MasterChef: The Professionals Semi-Final Skills Test

The Glenturret Lalique Restaurant is proud to announce that Executive Chef Mark Donald and his team hosted the highly anticipated semi-final skills test in week 18 of MasterChef: The Professionals, welcoming some of the UK’s most talented chefs to compete at one of Scotland’s most celebrated culinary destinations.

 Set within Scotland’s oldest working distillery and recently retaining Two Michelin Stars, The Glenturret Lalique Restaurant provided a fine dining, high pressure environment for the competition at this critical point in the series.

Known for his refined, produce-led cooking and exacting standards, Mark Donald designed a challenge that tested technical precision, creativity, and composure under pressure.

Speaking about the experience, Mark Donald said:

 “It was a privilege to welcome MasterChef: The Professionals to The Glenturret. At this stage of the competition, the margins are incredibly fine. We wanted to create a challenge that truly reflected the level of discipline, respect for ingredients, and technical focus required in a Michelin-starred kitchen.”

The semi-final skills test demanded accuracy, restraint, and an ability to execute complex techniques flawlessly - qualities that define Mark’s culinary philosophy and the standards upheld daily at The Glenturret Lalique Restaurant.

Hosting the programme marks a significant moment not only for the restaurant but for Scotland’s hospitality sector. The episode shines a spotlight on the country’s exceptional produce, craftsmanship, and growing influence within the global fine dining scene.

The episode aired on BBC One on Thursday 19th March bringing viewers behind the scenes of one of Scotland’s most prestigious kitchens, and iconic locations.
